I agree with you about the type of articles that dominate this platform, but there is one benefit of publishing here I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention - Medium has a high domain authority on Google which translates into building authority and visibility outside of this community. I've never come across an article published on Substack but I'll do a little research and check it out. Anyway, happy you have found a good place for your writing and wish you success!
